NFHS needed to rebuild the case for school activities while concussion concerns and changing family expectations were reshaping participation. Research with parents showed that the strongest value lived beyond competition: confidence, health, belonging, character, community, and preparation for adult life. I helped turn that evidence into My Reason Why, a platform centered on the personal meaning students found in showing up, improving, contributing, and being part of something larger than themselves. This made the opportunity both emotional and structural, giving the association a clearer foundation for sustained engagement.
At executive level, I led creative strategy, content strategy, and planning across a national-to-local system. The strategic move shifted NFHS from institutional defense toward student truth. A shared narrative connected campaign creative, story capture, a digital hub, association toolkits, school activation, social content, media, partnerships, and adaptable templates. National direction stayed coherent while every state association, school, team, parent, and student could make the idea locally useful and personally recognizable. It balanced national consistency and local freedom for partners.
The platform gave NFHS a participation story that could travel from national to local communities while keeping its center. All 51 state associations supported the launch, and participating associations reported increased participation. The system gave schools tools as student voices showed families the confidence, belonging, and value behind activities. My Reason Why turned a defensive moment into an invitation to participate, strengthened relationships, and gave NFHS an enduring platform built around the people it served.
